a very parisian new year's eve

dressing for new year's in paris is turning out to be slightly less fun (read: glamorous) due to the fact that the #1 activity is being outside to see the laser show (ie - in the frigid cold).

because i haven't started packing yet (christmas slacking!) i am starting to freak a little bit, so moodboarding with my own clothes is the obvious solution...

from top left: j.crew factory crystal wing earrings | j.crew gold sequin tank | j.crew gunmetal 3/4 sequin tee | michael kors shawl collar puffer (holiday score!) | j.crew zipper accent cardigan | j.crew brown tweed cafe capri | j.crew zipper minnie pant | j.crew gold glitter skinny belt | OPI dazzled by gold | ralph lauren black heeled riding boot

so...now i'm just left with the big decision - cool-toned sequins or warm it up with golden hues? even if i've got my new michael kors shawl collar puffer on the whole time, i'll feel just as sparkly inside.

dreams of snow and mistletoe..

i hope everyone is enjoying the holiday as much as i am. this year it seemed much more difficult to get into the christmas spirit early on, with lots of busy-ness around my birthday, work, and the boyfs finals, etc.

and so, it seems i have been laying on my clothing as a crutch to get me feeling more festive - and it worked! this weekend has been so cozy and full of cheer - even just being home with the whole family made it all come together.

once i'm back from paris i'll be sure to share my real photos from the holiday, but for now, here's an instagram christmas recap:

my new retro sunglasses - a steal at anthro for $14

one of my favorite houses in town, dressed up with gorgeous lights.
christmas eve attire, complete with fair isle and gold glitter

all dressed up for christmas mass: polkas, red plaid and sparkle (all courtesy of jcrew, per usual).
my sister's deadly assorment of cookies & some christmas eve hot toddy action.
getting ready to wait for santa - in my santa jammies, of course.

happy holidays!

joyeux noel in paris!

i have been dying to start moodboard-ing for months now, and the timing of finding moodshare.com could not have been more apt as i am about to start packing for my week in paris!

i cannot put into words how excited i am to see the city decked out for the holidays and then spend new years there with boyf and his family. naturally, though, the second thought after "MUST. HAVE. MACARONS" is: "WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?"

i am always big on dressing for the environment i'm in, but it is never more true (and yet, so much more difficult!) is when i am traveling. i am not delusional enough to think that i will be able to pull off a true parisian look - but i don't want to stick out like a sore....american? (for lack of a better word...) and let's be honest - there are going to be TONS of photos taken throughout the course of the week, so how can i NOT try to look amazing?

with that - this is my very first fashion board - and surely not my last (NYE in paris outfit coming soon!)

1. david yurman pearl earrings | 2. elie tahari cape | 3. asos bow blouse in peach skin | 4. kate spade necklace | 5. j.crew cafe capri in port wine | 6. j.crew viv flat | 7. rebecca minkoff mab satchel
