I will be the first to admit that in the past, I have spent embarrassing
amounts of money on Halloween costumes. In college, it was a few of those
"sexy" packaged costumes (you can't pass judgment on college
activities, right?), and in my post-grad years I have been known to go a bit
too far tracking down the EXACT dress Taylor Swift wore (topped off with a
much-too-expensive, itchy, blonde curly wig).
Now that I’m (pretending to be) a real person, I would much
rather spend all of that money on some fun Halloween décor (I’ve been lusting
after this
guy for a while) to feel festive for the season, rather than on an outfit I’ll
wear for one night.
All of my problems were solved once this season of New Girl
started; Jess has not only been sporting J.Crew a TON, but she’s very
conveniently been styled in items I already have (great taste, Jess/Zooey!).

So – voila! Easy-peasey Halloween costume – just top it off
with some faux glasses and bangs (real or clip-in? Still undecided…), and I’m
set to go.
J.Crew merino wool sweater / J.Crew pleated mini skirt / River Island black short shorts, $19 / Tory Burch genuine leather boots / Coach tassel loafer / Kate Spade watch / Marc by Marc Jacobs bow jewelry / Warby Parker retro eyeglass / Warby Parker / kate spade new york 'little west - austin' tote / Kate Spade New York Roped In Lever Backs
Now as long as I can manage to not spill beer on my J.Crew
cashmere I’ll be golden.

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love her on the show (and in real life)! I've been wanting to try clip in bangs too!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I love the idea of using things you already own to dress up for the holiday; it's so much less stressful and practical!
